About
Some Kind Of Wonderful

Holly Q is a musicologist that is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Musicology and Ethnomusicology at York University. Her thesis is a definitive history collection of the Canadian Progressive-Pop band Klaatu: The Occupants of Misinterpreted Craft.
She has studied various musical genres and their composers including the Renaissance, Classical, Baroque, Opera, Romantic, Post-Modernist, Impressionist, Modernist, Big Band, and Swing eras. Her main interest lies within Rock and Popular music, starting with the 1950s.
Holly has always had a passion for music and its history and is often seen watching documentaries and reading biographies, music magazines, encyclopaedias, journals, album liners, and history books, or discussing with her professors the ever-changing world of music. Aside from being involved in music studies, Holly is also an avid musician and enjoys playing the clarinet, saxophone, piano, guitar, and ukulele.
Holly is a strong vinyl advocate and believes in the importance of the album, rather than the singles. Her main goal as a musicologist is to bring to light the story behind the music, as well as finding hidden gems that are otherwise lost through regular radio play and music rotation.
This website is aimed towards bringing people together into engaging conversations about the importance of music, the people behind it, and ultimately their artistry. This website is a means of learning, sharing, and discovering with one another those "hidden gems" from albums, the stories behind them, and bringing a little more meaning into ordinary life. Holly hopes to achieve this through her written work regarding life as a musicologist, music recommendations and reviews, opinion pieces, artistic discoveries, and any interesting tidbits that may arise through the musical journey itself. Holly believes that music has the incredible ability to connect people, and hopes that this website will do the same.
